The Air Barrel is a piece of equipment that coaches will love for its versatility, shape and dynamic surface. While it may look like a foam octagon or barrel, it is filled with air and is BOUNCY, helping with drills that cannot be done with traditional foam shapes. The Air Barrel can be used for tumbling, vaulting and bar skills and teaches body awareness and control. Each Air Barrel includes sturdy handles on the ends for easy mobility. Also, included on each end are d-rings for securing or suspending the Air Barrel for a variety of drills and uses. Each unit includes dual action hand pump. Now available in two sizes: 24in and 36in diameter.
Do you have limited space or travel from site to site? When not in use, the Air Barrel deflates within seconds, making it incredibly portable and easy to store away. Be sure to check out the optional cradles for when you want your Large Air Barrel to stay put!
Choosing between the two sizes? We’ve seen creative coaches set up various stations with the Air Barrels with different height athletes in mind. For taller athletes, consider raising the height of an Air Barrel by placing it on top of a folded Tumbling Mat or Booster Block. If it’s the athlete that needs a little more height, have them stand on top of a raised surface. Here’s some general height guidelines.
- Choose the 24” Air Barrel if you’re using it for athletes around 38” tall.
- Choose the 36” Large Air Barrel if you’re using it for athletes around 56” tall.
